The Line: South Carolina Gamecocks +4.5 -- Over/Under:
Coming up on Saturday from Colonial Life Arena, the Florida Gators will be taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks in college basketball action.
The Gators enter this game with a 16-8 record overall. Florida had lost two straight before beating LSU on Wednesday. In that one, Florida guard Jalen Hudson managed 18 points to lead the team.
Hudson is also the leading Gators scorer on the year with 15.8 PPG, and Egor Koulechov is second on 14.2 PPG and 6.9 RPG. Also in double-digits for Florida are Chris Chiozza (11.9 PPG) and KeVaughn Allen (11.3 PPG).
As for South Carolina, they’re sitting at 13-11 on the year. The Gamecocks have lost their last four games, and dropped one to Arkansas on Tuesday. In that one, South Carolina’s Hassani Gravett put up 12 points.
Leading the way for South Carolina in scoring is Chris Silva (14.5 PPG; 7.7 RPG), and the only other Gamecocks player in double-digits is Frank Booker on 11.0 PPG. Justin Minaya isn’t too far off that threshold for South Carolina though, with 8.8 PPG).
The Gators are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 0-3-1 ATS in the last four versus the SEC. The under is 4-1 in Florida’s last five versus the SEC and 5-2 in the last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the SEC. South Carolina is also 0-4 ATS in the last four games overall and 4-11-1 ATS in the last 16 Saturday games.
The Gators hit a bit of a scoring lull against Georgia and Alabama, putting up just 110 points combined in those two games. Florida did bounce back with 73 points versus LSU, however, and have some solid scorers on their roster. As for South Carolina, I’m not too thrilled with their offense lately (65 or fewer in three of their last four) so I’m taking Florida.
