South Dakota State Jackrabbits -15.5 O/U: 148.5
The Denver Pioneers and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits meet in college basketball action from Frost Arena on Friday.
Denver comes into this matchup at 5-20 so far. The Pioneers are riding a five-game losing streak, falling to North Dakota, ND State, South Dakota, Oral Roberts and Fort Wayne in that time.
In the loss to the Mastodons, Denver’s lead scorer was Jase Townsend with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. Also in double-digits there was Robert Jones with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Over on the South Dakota State side, they’re 18-8 this year. The Jackrabbits have won their last four straight games, taking out ND State, Oral Roberts, Western IL and Omaha.
In the win over the Mavericks, South Dakota State’s Doug Wilson led the team on 24 points with eight rebounds and three assists. Both Matt Dentlinger and Alex Arians scored 19 points apiece there, and combined for three assists with 12 rebounds.
The Jackrabbits are 1-5 ATS in their last six Friday games and 35-15-1 ATS in their last 51 home games. SD State is 7-1 ATS in the last eight after an ATS win and 20-7 ATS in their last 27 overall.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers are 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS loss. Denver is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall.
Despite the ugly record this season, Denver is a good offensive team. The Pioneers had a six-game run with at least 70 points in each outing heading into their last game, but they’ve also given up at least 70 points in each of their last 10 games.
Considering South Dakota State has hit at least 70 themselves in 13 straight games, I really don’t see too many reasons not to take the Jackrabbits on a big cover here.
