The Omaha Mavericks will travel to Frost Arena to take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Omaha Mavericks won their 5th straight game and improved to 12-8 (6-1 Summit) on the season after defeating the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, 85-79 in OT, this past Thursday. Omaha was able to fight back from a 49-32 deficit early in the 2nd half to force OT and pulled away for the victory after taking an 83-79 lead with just :26 seconds remaining in OT. Omaha shot 46.5% from the field and outrebounded Purdue Fort Wayne by a 43-37 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Mavericks was Mitchell Hahn who had a double-double with 23 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal.

On the season, Omaha is averaging 79.4 ppg on 48.0% shooting from the field. The Mavericks are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 39.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Omaha has been led by Zach Jackson (18.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.8 apg), JT Gibson (14.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.3 spg), Mitchell Hahn (11.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.6 apg), and Matt Pile (10.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.5 apg).

Defensively, Omaha is allowing their opponents to average 78.0 ppg on 47.4% shooting from the field. The Mavericks have a rebound margin of -3.0 and a turnover margin of 2.6.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits won their 5th straight game and improved to 16-6 (6-1 Summit) on the season after defeating the North Dakota Sate Bison, 87-69, this past Thursday night. South Dakota State jumped all over the Bison early in the one and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 44-25 lead at halftime. South Dakota State shot 54.0% from the field and 42.3% shooting from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Jackrabbits was Mike Daum who had a double-double with 30 points, 17 rebounds, and a block.

On the season, South Dakota State is averaging 84.8 ppg on 50.5% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits are averaging 9.8 three-pointers per game on 41.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota State has been led by Mike Daum (24.5 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 1.6 apg), David Jenkins (19.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.2 apg), Skyler Flatten (15.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.0 spg), and Tevin King (9.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.7 spg).

Defensively, South Dakota State is allowing their opponents to average 71.7 ppg on 40.2% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits have a rebound margin of 5.3 and a turnover margin of -0.1.

The Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win. The Jackrabbits are 15-4 ATS in their last 19 Saturday games and 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games vs. Summit League opponents.

Omaha has won 9 of their last 10 games and although their defense can give up points as they rank 311th in scoring defense & 328th in defensive FG%, the Mavericks have a solid offense that ranks 51st in scoring offense, 43rd in FG%, and 15th in 3P-FG%. South Dakota State has won 6 of their last 7 games and has one of the better offenses in all of College Basketball as they rank 13th in scoring offense, 3rd in FG%, and 4th in 3P-FG%.

Omaha has been playing some great basketball as of late, however, I’m concerned that their going to have no answers for Mike Daum and the Jackrabbits offense. South Dakota State is 9-1 at home this season and as the Jackrabbits have a defense that can give Omaha some trouble, I think South Dakota State does enough to cover this large home spread.

Pick:
South Dakota State Jackrabbits -11
