The Oral Roberts Golden Griffins will travel to Frost Arena to take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Oral Roberts Golden Griffins has their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-12 (3-1 Summit) on the season after being defeated by the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, 94-69, this past Thursday. Purdue Fort Wayne used a strong run at the end of the 1st half to take a 48-35 halftime lead and Oral Roberts couldn’t fight back after falling behind by a 78-53 margin with 10:07 left in regulation. Oral Roberts struggled defensively as the Golden Griffins allowed Purdue Fort Wayne to shoot 52.3% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Griffins was Emmanuel Nzekwesi who had a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.

On the season, Oral Roberts is averaging 71.7 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field. The Golden Griffins are averaging 7.8 three-pointers per game on 35.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oral Roberts has been led by Emmanuel Nzekwesi (16.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.2 apg), Kevin Obanor (11.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Sam Kearns (8.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.1 apg), and Kaelen Malone (7.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.6 apg).

Defensively, Oral Roberts is allowing their opponents to average 77.3 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Golden Griffins have a rebound margin of 2.3 and a turnover margin of -4.3.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits won their 2nd straight game and improved to 13-6 (3-1 Summit) on the season after defeating the Denver Pioneers, 78-66, this past Thursday. South Dakota State led by a 47-36 margin at halftime and held a double-digit lead for the majority of the 2nd half in the victory. South Dakota State shot 53.3% from the field & 44.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Jackrabbits was David Jenkins who had 21 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist.

On the season, South Dakota State is averaging 85.1 ppg on 50.6% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits are averaging 9.8 three-pointers per game on 42.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota State has been led by Mike Daum (23.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 1.7 apg), David Jenkins (19.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.4 apg), Skyler Fatten (15.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg), and Tevin King (9.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, South Dakota State is allowing their opponents to an average of 72.1 ppg on 39.8% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits have a rebound margin of 5.9 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Golden Eagles are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. Summit League opponents. The Jackrabbits are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 21-9 ATS in their 30 home games.

Oral Roberts has won 4 of their last 7 games, however, have really struggled defensively as they rank just 297th in scoring defense & 256th in defensive FG%. South Dakota State has won 3 of their last 5 games and have one of the more explosive offenses in the Summit as they rank 13th in scoring offense & 7th in FG%.

South Dakota State have one of the best players in the Summit in Mike Daum however, I haven’t been overly impressed with their play as of late, especially against a Pioneers team in which I thought they would win by 20+. Oral Roberts is going to have a hard time slowing the Jackrabbits offense, however, as I think Oral Roberts will be able to put up some points against the Jackrabbits 199th ranked scoring defense, I think the Golden Griffins will do enough with the points to cover.

Pick:
Oral Roberts Golden Griffins +17
