We have some Summit League action on the hardwood, as the Fort Wayne Mastodons take on the South Dakota Coyotes in a college basketball matchup on Thursday night.

The Fort Wayne Mastodons will be looking to build on back-to-back conference wins, including a 91-63 win over Denver in their last outing. Bryson Scott led the Mastodons with 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting with 3 triples and 4 steals. John Konchar came 2nd with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting with team-highs of 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals of his own, while Kason Harrell added 14 points to round out the trio of double digit scorers for IPFW in the win. Scott leads the Mastodons in scoring with 22.9 points per game while Konchar leads IPFW with an average of 8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Fort Wayne is scoring 81.8 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the arc and 72.1% from the foul line this season.

The South Dakota Coyotes will be looking to keep their momentum going after winning 13 of their last 16 games, including a 76-72 win over North Dakota State in their last outing. Matt Mooney led the Coyotes with 21 points on 6 of 18shooting with 3 threes, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Triston Simpson and Nick Fuller tied for 2nd with 13 points apiece, with Simpson going 6 of 9 from the floor, while Tyler Peterson added 12 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Coyotes in the win. Trey Burch-Manning also added 7 points to match his team-high 7 rebounds and a whopping 6 steals for South Dakota in the win. Mooney leads South Dakota in scoring with 17.6 points per game while Burch-Manning leads the Coyotes on the glass with 7.2 rebounds per game and Simpson leads the way in assists with 3.2 helpers per game this season. As a team, South Dakota is scoring 80.2 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field, 36.3% from behind the arc and 74.3% from the foul line this season.

Fort Wayne is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-21 ATS in their last 26 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 conference matchups. South Dakota is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference matchups and 34-15-3 ATS in the last 52 games overall while the over is 21-8 in their last 29 games following a win. The underdog is 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.

The points with Fort Wayne are worth a look here considering the underdog’s success ATS between these two teams. However, the Mastodons on the road have been one of my favorite fade plays and South Dakota are looking like the favorite to represent the Summit league in the big dance come March, so I’ll lay the points with the Coyotes here.

South Dakota -8.5
