The North Dakota State Bison and the South Dakota Coyotes meet in Summit League college basketball action from the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Thursday night.

The North Dakota State Bison will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 58-50 loss to Nebraska-Omaha in their last outing. Vinnie Shahid led the Bison with 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting from 3-point range while Jared Samuelson added 11 points with 3 triples. Deng Geu chipped in 10 points with a team-high 6 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for the Bison in the losing effort. Shahid leads North Dakota State with an average of 12.9 points and 2.8 assists per game while Tyson Ward leads the Bison in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, North Dakota State is averaging 73.1 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 35.8% from behind the arc and 77.5% from the foul line, which ranks as the 8th-best free throw percentage in the country this season.

The South Dakota Coyotes will look to rebound from a 94-89 loss to South Dakota State in their last outing. Cody Kelley led the Coyotes with 21 points on 7 of 10 shooting with 5 threes and 4 assists while Triston Simpson added 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting with a pair of triples. Trey Burch-Manning added 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds while Tyler Peterson had 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Logan Power added 11 points with 3 threes in 12 minutes to round out the group of double-digit scorers for South Dakota in the losing effort. Stanley Umude had 7 points with a team-high 8 rebounds and 3 blocks while Brandon Armstrong had a team-high 5 assists. Umude leads South Dakota in scoring with 14.5 points per game while Burch-Manning leads the Coyotes in rebounding with 6.1 rebounds per game and Simpson leads South Dakota in assists with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, South Dakota is averaging 70.2 points per game on 44% shooting from the field, 34.5% from behind the arc and 73.1% from the foul line this season.

North Dakota State is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. South Dakota is 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss. North Dakota State is 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at South Dakota.

The Coyotes have had the upper hand on the Bison in recent meetings, but that’s about all that South Dakota has for them going into this one. North Dakota State is coming off of a pair of back-to-back losses, including last game where NDSU forgot how to score, but the fact is that the Coyotes have been the better team for the better part of this season. North Dakota State also already has a win over the Coyotes, so while revenge would be nice for the Coyotes, I just see the Bison at worst taking this game to the final possession, so I’ll take the free bucket and North Dakota State here.

North Dakota State +3
