The SMU Mustangs and the South Florida Bulls meet in AAC college basketball action from the USF Sun Dome on Sunday afternoon.

The SMU Mustangs could definitely use a win after losing 4 straight and 9 of their last 10 games after a 90-79 loss to Houston in their last outing. Jahmal McMurray led the Mustangs with 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting with 5 triples and a team-high 3 assists. Ethan Chargois came 2nd with 21 points while Isiaha Mike added 15 points with a team-high 6 rebounds. Feron Hunt chipped in 10 points to round out the group of double-digit scorers for SMU in the losing effort. McMurray leads SMU in scoring with 18 points per game while Jimmy Whitt Jr. leads the Mustangs with averages of 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. As a team, SMU is averaging 71.7 points per game on 43.5% shooting from the field, 33.5% from behind the arc and 72.1% from the foul line this season.

The South Florida Bulls will look to build some steam after a 75-70 road win over Tulane in their last outing. Justin Brown and David Collins each had a team-high 20 points with Brown hitting 5 threes while Collins had a team-high 4 assists. T.J. Lang added 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 3 threes to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for USF in the win. Alexis Yetna had 9 points with 8 rebounds while Michael Durr added a team-high 10 rebounds as well in the victory. Collins leads South Florida in scoring with 15.3 points per game while Yetna leads the Bulls in rebounding with 9.4 rebounds per game and Laquincy Rideau leads the Bulls in assists with 5.5 assists per game this season. As a team, South Florida is averaging 72.3 points per game on 43.2% shooting from the field, 33% from behind the arc and 63.8% from the foul line this season.

SMU is 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and 10-24-1 ATS in their last 35 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games. South Florida is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games following a win while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games. SMU is 1-3-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at South Florida.

South Florida hasn’t been very good ATS lately, but the fact is that the Bulls are a heck of a lot more reliable than SMU has been. The Mustangs are free falling right now and don’t appear to be getting out of the tailspin anytime soon. We aren’t being asked to lay some crazy number here, so I’ll lay the bucket with the Bulls in this spot.

Pick:
South Florida -3
