The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks butt heads with the Southern Illinois Salukis in Saturday college basketball.
The Southern Illinois Salukis turned to their defense in defeating Saint Louis 61-56 as a two point home favorite on Wednesday. Southern Illinois held a huge 45.1%-33.3% edge in marksmanship but had to survive the Billikens 18 extra shot attempts.
The Salukis twosome of Armon Fletcher and Sean Lloyd Jr. gave the Salukis 13 points apiece and a combined 14 rebounds on 9-18. Southern Illinois saw ten points, five boards and two blocks from Kavion Pippen on 5-6 marksmanship followed by Marcus Bartley with nine points and four pulls on 2-4 from the field and 4-6 at the stripe.
The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks are eyeing back to back victories after running past Mississippi Valley State 77-58 on Tuesday as a 5.5 point road favorite. Southeast Missouri State led by eight at the break and pulled away over the final 20 minutes behind 43.3% shooting and nine more looks to outdistance the 31% shooting Delta Devils.
The Redhawks rode the offense of Skylar Hogan who led all scorers with 25 points and four helpers on 10-16 marksmanship including 5-8 from long range. Isaiah Gable and Gabe McGlothan gave SEMO eleven points apiece with McGlothan totaling eight rebounds and four blocks while Alex Caldwell followed with eight points.
