The Line: Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars +13.5 -- Over/Under:
Over at Vadalabene Center on Saturday, the Murray State Racers and the SIU Edwardsville Cougars will be meeting up in college basketball action.
Murray State comes in here at 19-5 on the year. The Racers have a six-game winning streak going after beating Austin Peay on Thursday. In that game, Murray State guard Jonathan Stark managed 27 points.
Stark also tops the Racers in scoring on the year with 20.6 PPG and 4.0 APG. Also in double-figures for Murray State this season are Terrell Miller (15.1 PPG; 8.1 RPG) and Ja Morant (12.8 PPG; 6.3 RPG; 6.4 APG).
Over on the SIUE side, they’re currently 8-16 on the season. The Cougars have lost six of their last seven games, including Thursday’s versus Eastern Illinois. In that one, SIU Edwardsville’s Daniel Kinchen managed 21 points.
Jalen Henry is the leading scorer for SIU-Edwardsville this season on 16.0 PPG and a team-high 7.1 RPG. The only other Cougars player in double-figures is Kinchen, with 12.7 PPG and 2.4 APG to his credit.
The Racers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. The over is 6-1 in the Racers’ last seven games following an ATS win and 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up loss. SIUE is also 7-15 ATS in their last 22 overall and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games.
Murray State has been scoring pretty well lately, aside from a 66-point slip-up versus Tenn-Martin. The Racers have put up at least 84 points in four of their last five. As for SIUE, they’re not doing much to get excited about lately. The last time these teams met at Murray State, it was an 87-63 Racers win. I like Murray State to duplicate that and cover here.
