The SMU Mustangs host the Cornell Big Red in a Saturday college basketball tilt.

The Cornell Big Red couldn’t get enough stops at the defensive end of the floor in an 86-70 defeat at Toledo on Wednesday. Both teams connected at around 44% but Toledo was nearly perfect at the charity stripe at 24-26 and connected at 10-25 from beyond the arc.

Matt Morgan powered the Big Red offense with 24 points on 6-12 accuracy an 10-10 at the line. Josh Warren gave Cornell 14 points, seven boards, six assists and two blocks on 6-9 from the floor followed by Jimmy Boeheim with eight points on 3-7 shooting.

The Southern Methodist Mustangs have been at the top of their game with wins in five of six after downing Georgetown 81-73 Saturday as a three point road dog. SMU held Georgetown to 39.7% shooting and sank shots at 47.5% including 10-25 from long range.

The balanced Mustangs offense saw Jahmal McMurray toss in a game high 19 points on 5-10 from the floor with four long balls and 5-6 at the stripe. Isiaha Mike and Ethan Chargois each scored 17 points and combined for nine rebounds and seven assists with Chargois posting five blocks on 7-12 from the field while Nat Dixon netted eleven points on 4-6.
