Southern Miss Golden Eagles -11 O/U: 131
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will meet up on the college basketball court Thursday.
Middle Tennessee limps into this one at 3-12 on the season. The Blue Raiders are currently on an ugly 11-game losing skid, falling to Rhode Island, FIU and Florida Atlantic in their last three outings.
In the loss to the Owls, Middle Tennessee guard Antonio Green led the team with 20 points and two rebounds. The only other Raider in double-figures there was Reggie Scurry with 13 points and eight boards.
Over on the Southern Miss side, they’re 8-7 this year. The Golden Eagles last won against South Dakota on December 21, and since have dropped to LA Tech, Rice and North Texas.
In the loss to the Mean Green, Southern Miss’ top scorer was Cortez Edwards with 24 points and seven rebounds. LaDavius Draine added 16 points and three boards for the Eagles in that one, while Leonard Harper-Baker had 11 with five rebounds.
Middle Tennessee is 6-18 ATS in their last 24 overall and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS loss. The Raiders are 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four versus CUSA.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. The under is 5-0-1 ATS in Southern Miss’ last six overall and 4-0 in their last four following an ATS win.
Middle Tennessee had a 32-25 lead on the Owls at halftime, but faded down the stretch in what was ultimately a 63-56 defeat. The crux of this losing streak is pretty obvious: the Raiders simply aren’t good enough on offense, routinely finishing in the sub-60-point range.
Southern Miss puts up some ugly offensive numbers as well however, so this is actually a decent matchup. I like the Eagles’ defensive capabilities better in comparison though, so I’m going with Southern Miss.
