Southern Miss Golden Eagles -10.5 O/U: 130.5
The UTEP Miners will face the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in college basketball activity on Saturday.
UTEP enters this one on an 8-16 mark so far. The Miners have lost four of their last five games, falling to Marshall, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Tech during that time.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, UTEP’s top scorer was Efe Odigie, who doubled up on 16 points and 10 rebounds. The only other Miners player in double-figures there was Jordan Lathon with 10 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Southern Miss side, they’re 16-9 on the season. The Golden Eagles are on a five-game win streak right now, beating Marshall, FIU, Florida Atlantic, LA Tech and UTSA in that time.
In the win over the Roadrunners, Southern Miss’ Cortez Edwards led the team on 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Tyree Griffin added 18 points, five assists and six rebounds for the Eagles in that one and Leonard Harper-Baker put up 14 points with 12 rebounds.
The Miners are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 versus CUSA and 3-10 ATS in the last 13 overall. UTEP is 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus CUSA. Southern Miss is 0-5 ATS in their last five versus a team with a losing straight-up record and the over is 4-0 in their last four overall.
It’s been a pretty disappointing season all around for UTEP, and they’ve posted a few stinkers in their last five games or so which embody that. The Miners have failed to hit 60 points in five of their last seven outings as well.
As for Southern Miss, they’re on a nice run right now and I don’t think they’ll have any problems rolling toward a cover here.
