The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have upset on their mind when they face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in an instate rivalry college basketball matchup.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles look to stay hot after a four game winning streak was halted in a 98-45 defeat to the Florida State Seminoles on Thursday as a 21.5 point underdog. This was never in doubt with the Seminoles leading by 26 points heading to the locker room behind a 56.1%-29.5% shooting edge.

The Golden Eagles had no answers at either end of the floor with no double digit scorers to lean on. The trio of Eddie Davis III, Cortez Edwards and Anfernee Hampton led Southern Mississippi with eight points apiece with Hampton grabbing a team high seven rebounds. Dominic McGee followed with six points but the Golden Eagles options were limited at best.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have been racking up the wins in the early going with an impressive 10-1 record after throttling the Austin Peay Governors as a 22 point favorite on Wednesday. Mississippi State rode a 38-25 second half run to pull away in what was a three point game at the half.

Quinndary Weatherspoon was the Bulldogs best player with a contest high 21 points with eight boards, three assists and two steals on 7-11 marksmanship. Aric Holman and Nick Weatherspoon combined for 18 points while Abdul Ado gave Mississippi State six points and 13 rebounds.

Southern Miss are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games and Southern Miss are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and Southern Miss are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Southeastern. Mississippi State are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and Mississippi State are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.

If Mississippi State plays as capable they would be my choice with several advantages…

Pick:
Mississippi State -13

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
