Big Sky college basketball gives a matchup between the Montana Grizzlies and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds.
The Montana Grizzlies improved to 8-5 and 1-0 in the Big Sky with an 87-69 win at the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks as an eleven point favorite on Thursday. Montana jumped to a 12 point lead heading to the locker room and never were challenged with a 44.6%-32.7% shooting edge with 16 more shots.
The Grizzlies were both balanced and explosive on offense with Jamar Akoh leading the way with 23 points and ten rebounds on 5-14 from the floor and a 13-18 effort at the line followed by Ahmaad Rorie with 22 points on 8-14 shooting. Montana received 13 points from Michael Oguine on 5-9 from the floor while Sayeed Pridgett tossing in ten points.
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds look to get back in the win column after losing three of four following a 104-99 loss to the Montana State Bobcats as a 1.5 point home favorite in their Big Sky opener. Offense was the name of the game with Montana State holding a 54%-50% marksmanship edge.
Jadon Cohee paced the Thunderbirds offensive explosion with 20 points on 5-9 from the floor with James McGee adding 19 points and four assists. Southern Utah received 15 points and four yanks from Dwayne Morgan followed by Christian Musuko and Jacob Calloway with 12 and nine points respectively.
