Southern Utah Thunderbirds -3.5 O/U: 143
The Sacramento State Hornets and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds will meet up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.
Sacramento State enters this one at 7-7 on the season so far. The Hornets had a bad losing streak going versus Washington, Northern Colorado, Montana, Montana State and Idaho State but won their last outing versus Northern Arizona.
In the win over the Lumberjacks, Sac State’s Joshua Patton led the way with a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. He was the only Hornet in double-figures there, but almost everyone on the team who stepped on the court contributed.
Over on the Southern Utah side, they’re 8-7 this season. The Thunderbirds have won their last three straight outings, beating Weber State, Northern Arizona and Portland State in that span.
In the win over the Vikings, Southern Utah’s Cameron Oluyitan logged 18 points with two rebounds and two assists to lead the team. Jacob Calloway added 16 points and five assists there, and Andre Adams logged 14 points with five rebounds.
Sacramento State is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the Big Sky. The Hornets are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Thunderbirds are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. Southern Utah is 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the Big Sky and the over is 5-1 in their last six overall.
Sac State’s win Thursday wasn’t exactly the most inspiring thing in the world, but it was a win and marked continued improvement by the team, which they’ve been showing over their last three games or so.
Southern Utah just looks like a better squad right now, despite their penchant of giving up a truckload of points at times. I have to stick with the Birds here.
