Wednesday college basketball pits the St. Louis Billikens against the Massachusetts Minutemen.
The Massachusetts Minutemen dropped their Atlantic Ten Opener 69-60 to visiting La Salle on Saturday as an eight point favorite. Massachusetts saw the Explorers pull away with a 42-31 second half run with only 36.5% shooting to lean on.
The balanced Minutemen offense received 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals from Luwane Pipkins while Keon Clergeot added 13 points, four pulls and three assists.
Carl Pierre and Jonathan Laurent gave UMass ten points apiece followed by a six point, ten rebound and two steal effort of Curtis Cobb.
The Saint Louis Billikens began conference play on a positive note with a 60-53 win against Rhode Island as a six point home favorite on Saturday. Saint Louis pulled away from a tie game late behind a 38.2%-34.6% edge in accuracy.
Javon Bess was the main weapon for the Billikens pouring in a contest high 24 points with four pulls while Tramaine Isabelle added 13 points and five boards. Hasahn French gave Saint Louis ten points, eleven rebounds and three steals followed by Jordan Goodwin with three points and nine rebounds.
