Saint Peter's Peacocks -1.5 O/U: 123.5
The Monmouth Hawks and the Saint Peter’s Peacocks will meet up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
Monmouth enters this game at 8-16 on the season. Following consecutive losses to Canisius and Niagara, Monmouth has won their last pair versus Siena and Rider.
In the win over the Broncs, Monmouth’s Diago Quinn led the way on 17 points and seven rebounds. The only other Hawks scorer in double-figures there was Deion Hammond with 11 points and two assists.
Over on the Saint Peter’s side, they’re 6-15 on the year. The Peacocks have lost their last three straight games, dropping to Quinnipiac, Rider and Manhattan during that stretch of outings.
In the loss to the Jaspers, Saint Peter’s Manny Dixon was the only team player in double-figures with 18 points and three rebounds. Samuel Idowu led the rebounding for the Peacocks in that one with nine boards and four points.
The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Monmouth is 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Peacocks are 6-0 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. Saint Peter’s is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 versus the MAA.
Monmouth had a 40-28 edge on Rider going into halftime, but nearly coughed it up with a 43-35 deficit in the second. Still, it’s a W, and part of a larger trend of (mostly) improved play from the Hawks since the middle of last month or so.
Seeing as how Saint Peter’s hasn’t put up more than 58 points in any of their last three games, I don’t have an issue taking the dog here. I’m going to go with Monmouth in what’s sure to be a low-scoring affair.
