The Florida Gators will travel to Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena to take on the TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday afternoon in the SEC/BIG 12 Challenge.

The Florida Gators won their 2nd straight game and improved to 11-7 (3-3 SEC) on the season after defeating the Texas A&M Aggies, 81-72, this past Tuesday. Florida trailed by a 46-33 margin at halftime, however, dominated Texas A&M on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and was able to pull away after taking a 77-67 lead with 2:31 left in regulation. Florida shot 46.8% from the field and 48.6% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Gators was KeVaughn Allen who had 31 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals.

On the season, Florida is averaging 78.2 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Gators are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Florida has been led by KeVaughn Allen (12.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.6 spg), Noah Locke (11.4 ppg, 2.3 rpg), Andrew Nembhard (7.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.1 spg), and Kavarrius Hayes (6.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.0 spg, 1.9 bpg).

Defensively, Florida is holding their opponents to an average of 61.8 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Gators have a rebound margin of 0.3 and a turnover margin of 4.4.

The TCU Horned Frogs improved to 14-4 (3-3 Big 12) on the season after defeating the Texas Longhorns, 65-61, this past Wednesday. TCU struggled a bit agianst the Texas defense, however, was able to hang on late after the Horned Frogs took a 48-36 lead with 14:43 left in the 2nd half. TCU shot just 40.7% from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc, however, did outrebound the Longhorns by a 42-33 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Horned Frogs was Kouat Noi who had a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and a steal.

On the season, TCU is averaging 78.2 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, TCU has been led by Desmond Bane (14.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Kouat Noi (14.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Alex Robinson (13.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 7.9 apg, 1.7 spg), and JD Miller (10.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.2 apg).

Defensively, TCU is holding their opponents to an average of 66.9 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs have a rebound margin of 4.3 and a turnover margin of 1.2.

The Gators are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss. The Horned Frogs are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games.

Florida has won 3 of their last 5 games and although their offense can struggle at times as they rank just 271st in scoring offense & 268th in FG%, the Gators have one of the better defenses in the country as they rank 10th in scoring defense & 9th in turnover margin. TCU has lost 3 of their last 5 games, however, has been solid on both ends of the court as they rank 70th in scoring offense & 64th in scoring defense.

TCU has an impressive 9-1 record at home this season and is a more balanced team that Florida, however, I really like how the Gators have looked on the road recently as they are 4-1 in games away from home in their last 5, with their only lose being a 71-68 battle at Mississippi State. Florida’s offense can be inconsistent, however, as I think their defense is going to be able to keep this one a close game, I think taking the Gators and the points is the play here. Good Luck!

Pick:
Florida Gators +4
