The Indiana State Sycamores and the TCU Horned Frogs meet in college basketball action from Ed & Rae Schollmeier Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Indiana State Sycamores come into this game looking to build on a 77-69 win over subdivision Truman State in their last outing. Tyreke Key led the Sycamores with 26 points on 11 of 15 shooting while Jordan Barnes added 20 points on 7 of 16 shooting with 6 threes and a team-high 9 assists. Emondre Rickman added 12 points in 15 minutes with 3 blocks while Allante Holston added 10 points to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for Indiana State in the winning effort. Devin Thomas and De’Avion Washington also contributed a team-high 6 rebounds each as well in the victory. Barnes leads Indiana State with an average of 21.6 points and 4 assists per game while Key leads the Sycamores in rebounding with 5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Indiana State is averaging 73.9 points per game on 46.2% shooting from the field while owning the best 3-point percentage in the country, shooting 48.2% from downtown this season. Indiana State is also shooting 68.8% from the foul line this season.
The TCU Horned Frogs will look for another victory to add to their current 4-game winning streak after a 96-61 thrashing of USC in their last outing. Jaylen Fisher and Alex Robinson each led the way with 15 points, with Fisher hitting 5 threes while Robinson added a team-high 8 assists and 4 steals. JD Miller and Kouat Noi each added 14 points, with Miller adding 5 assists while Noi chipped in 6 rebounds. Desmond Bane added 11 points and 4 assists while Kevin Samuel chipped in 10 points on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting along with 13 rebounds in just 15 minutes for the double-double, rounding out the scoring in double-digits for TCU in the win. Bane leads TCU in scoring with 14.8 points per game while Robinson leads the Horned Frogs with 9 assists per game and Samuel leads TCU on the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, TCU is averaging 78.1 points per game on 50.2% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the 3-point line and 66% from the foul line this season.
Indiana State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 11-4-1 in their last 16 road games. TCU is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against the MVC while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall.
Indiana State has been playing well ATS as of late, but I need to see more than a win over Truman State before putting any stock in the Sycamores against a TCU team that’s rolling offensively right now. The Horned Frogs have dismantled the likes of USC, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan during this winning streak, winning each game by an average of 19.5 points per game so I’ll lay the points with TCU here.
