The Line: Temple Owls -18 -- Over/Under:
Coming up on Wednesday from Liacouras Center, the East Carolina Pirates and the Temple Owls will be matching up in college basketball activity.
East Carolina comes into this one at 9-13 overall. The Pirates had lost six of seven games, but won in OT Saturday versus Memphis. In that game, East Carolina guard Shawn Williams managed 30 points.
This season, the Pirates’ top scorer is BJ Tyson with 14.3 PPG, and Isaac Fleming is second on 12.1 PPG and 5.0 APG. Kentrell Barkley (12.1 PPG; 7.4 RPG) and Williams (10.7 PPG) are also in double-digits for East Carolina.
Over on the Temple side, they’re currently 13-10 on the year. The Owls have won their last three straight games, taking out Tulane on Sunday. In that game, Temple’s Nate Pierre-Louis put up 18 points to lead the way.
Tulane’s Quinton Rose leads the way in scoring with 14.3 PPG and 4.3 RPG, while Shizz Alston is second with 13.1 PPG. Also in double-digits is Obi Enechionyia with 11.3 PPG and 6.5 RPG to his credit.
The Pirates are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six versus the American Athletic. East Carolina is also 23-9-1 ATS in the last 33 Wednesday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win.
Meanwhile, Temple is 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up win. The Owls are also 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven home games versus a team with a losing road record.
East Carolina went into an offensive slumber over the last month or so, with more than 70 points in just one outing of a 10-game stretch. Temple, however, has been solid offensively in the last three games, with at least 81 in each. I like the Owls to keep it going and cover here.
