Temple Owls -4 O/U: 159
The Memphis Tigers and the Temple Owls will match up in college basketball action on Thursday.
Memphis enters this game at 12-6 overall. Following a loss to Houston January 6, the Tigers have toppled East Carolina, Tulane and SMU in succession over their last three outings.
In the win over the Mustangs, Memphis’ Kareem Brewton topped the scorers on 20 points with one rebound and one assist. Tyler Harris added 14 points for the Tigers, and Raynere Thornton put up 14 rebounds with 11 points for a double-double.
Over on the Temple side, they’re 14-4 this season. The Owls had a win streak going versus Wichita State, Houston, South Florida and East Carolina but dropped in their last game versus Penn.
In the loss to the Quakers, Temple’s lead scorer was Ernest Afakpui, who doubled up on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Levan Shawn Alston added 14 points with six assists for the Owls, and Nate Pierre-Louis added 13 points.
The Tigers are 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 games versus a team with a winning straight-up record and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine road games. Memphis is 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games and the over is 10-3 in their last 13 overall.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six versus the AAC and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 Thursday games. Temple is 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and the over is 6-0 in their last six overall.
The Tigers dispatched a decent Mustangs team pretty easily, jumping out to a 40-23 edge at halftime. The other two victories in this mini win-streak came by a combined 10 points, though.
As for Temple, they’re on a nice scoring run and looked solid up until that Penn game. Still, I’m willing to call that a hiccup and take Temple on the cover here.
