The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and the Tennessee State Tigers meet in college basketball action from Gentry Complex on Saturday.
Tennessee Tech enters this one at 7-19 overall. After a recent four-game losing streak, the Golden Eagles have won their last two games versus Southeast Missouri State and JSU.
In the win over the Gamecocks, Tennessee Tech’s Cade Crosland led the way on 21 points, and Hunter Vick added 15 points with five rebounds. Jr. Clay had a nice line as well on 13 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Tennessee State side, they’re 15-11 on the year. After winning three straight versus JSU, Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay, the Tigers have lost to Murray State and Belmont in their last pair.
In the loss to the Bruins, Tennessee State’s Michael Littlejohn led the way on 14 points with five assists and four rebounds. Mark Freeman was the only other team player in double-digits there with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
The Tigers are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. Tennessee State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and the under is 6-0 in the last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-7 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games. Tennessee Tech is 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 overall.
The Eagles got pretty permissive on defense during their four-game losing streak, giving up 72 or more in each game. Tennessee Tech has been better about controlling things in their last two (60 to SEMO and 74 to JSU) but they’ve barely escaped with a win each time.
Tennessee State has been down on offense through a couple of tough matchups, but they’re much better than their last two games. I’m going Tigers on the cover here.
