Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles +9
The Austin Peay Governors and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles will meet up in college basketball activity on Thursday.
Austin Peay comes into this matchup at 14-7 on the year. The Governors have lost two of their last three games, taking out Tennessee State and falling to Eastern Illinois and Belmont in that stretch.
In the loss to the Bruins, Austin Peay’s lead scorer was Chris Porter-Bunton with 24 points, four rebounds and two assists. Terry Taylor added 23 points and eight rebounds for the Governors in that matchup, and Steve Harris had 17 points.
Over on the Tennessee Tech side, they’re 7-14 this year. The Eagles had a four-game losing streak going versus Eastern IL, Tennessee State, JSU and Morehead State but won their last game versus Eastern KY.
In the win over the Colonels, Tennessee Tech guard Jr. Clay put up 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to lead the team. Corey Tillery added 18 points for the Eagles in that victory and Malik Martin posted 17 points with eight rebounds.
The Governors are 7-0 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 overall. Austin Peay is 20-8 ATS in their last 28 after a straight-up loss and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 7-1 ATS in their last eight Thursday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Tennessee Tech is 12-3 ATS in their last 15 versus the OVC and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall.
Austin Peay has some pretty good scorers on their roster, and they can be a dangerous team if they don’t let things get out of hand on the other side of the ball. As for Tennessee Tech, they were in something of a scoring slump heading into the win over the Colonels, bagging 62 points or fewer across each of their four losses.
I’m not sure about the Eagles’ ability to put up a sufficient points total here, so I’m going to stick with the Governors on the cover.
