Texas-Arlington Mavericks -3 O/U: 151
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will match up against the Texas-Arlington Mavericks on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
Louisiana comes in here with a 15-10 mark overall. Following a recent three-game losing streak, the Cajuns have won their last pair of games, taking out Georgia State and LA-Monroe.
In the win over the Warhawks, Louisiana’s top scorer was Marcus Stroman, with 22 points, nine assists and four rebounds. Jakeenan Gant added 20 points with eight rebounds for the Cajuns there, and Justin Miller pulled down 12 rebounds.
Over on the UT-Arlington side, they’re 12-14 this year. The Mavericks had a three-game win streak going versus Texas State, Coastal Carolina and App State, but they’ve lost their last pair to Little Rock and Arkansas State.
In the loss to the Red Wolves, Texas-Arlington’s Brian Warren led the team with 21 points, five assists and three rebounds. The only other Mavericks player in double-figures there was David Azore with 16 points.
The Cajuns are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight versus the Sun Belt. Louisiana is 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 0-8 ATS in their last eight Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Mavs are 6-1 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 overall. UT-Arlington is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 versus the Sun Belt and 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 at home.
Louisiana has shown some real promise during spots this season, but they’re also prone to lapses on defense, which lead to some “meh” teams beating the Cajuns when they wouldn’t on most other days.
UT-Arlington is just the sort of “meh” team that could take advantage in a home game here, and on the whole the Mavericks have been scoring pretty well lately. I’m going with TX-Arlington here.
