The Southland college basketball playoffs get underway with the Central Arkansas Bears facing the Texas A&M CC Islanders. 

The Central Arkansas Bears closed the regular season with a 70-63 victory against the Northwester State Demons for back to back wins.

Thatch Unruh starred for the Bears, pouring in a game high 30 points with four pulls while Hayden Koval added 12 points and five boards.

Central Arkansas received nine points and another five boards from Tanner Schmit followed by Deandre Jones with seven points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Texas A&M CC Islanders won three straight to end their schedule after downing the Houston Baptist Huskies 76-69.

The balanced Islanders offense saw 21 points, three yanks and three assists from Kareem South with Emmanuel Toney adding 20 points, four pulls and six helpers.

Jashawn Talton gave Texas A&M CC  another 19 points and four boards while Jake Babic tossed in ten points and hauled in eight rebounds.

Central Arkansas Bears are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. Southland and  are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Texas A&M CC Islanders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and  are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and  are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 neutral site games.

The results against similar competition is close enough for me to take the points…
