The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Texas A&M Aggies will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
Marshall enters this one at 7-4 on the year. The Herd have thus far taken out Eastern Kentucky, Hofstra, Mt. St. Mary’s, NC A&T, William & Mary, Morehead State and Akron this season.
In the Akron game, Marshall’s Jon Elmore led the charge with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. CJ Burks (13 points; seven rebounds) and Taevion Kinsey (10 points; three rebounds) were also in double-figures for the Herd.
Over on the Texas A&M side, they’re 5-4 this season. The Aggies have recorded wins over Savannah State, South Alabama, NW State, Oregon State and Valparaiso this year.
In the Crusaders game, the Aggies’ lead scorers were Christian Mekowulu and Brandon Mahan, who each put up 20 points and had three assists with five rebounds between them as the only players on the team in double-figures.
The Herd are 7-2 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games. Marshall is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 8-17 ATS in their last 25 following an ATS win. The Aggies are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus CUSA.
After a three-game losing streak, Marshall is back with consecutive wins coming into this game. The Herd have scored 151 points across those two outings.
As for Texas A&M, they lost a couple of games they shouldn’t have last month, but are looking better lately.
This should be a good one, but I like Marshall to eke out a cover.
