The Jackson State  Tigers visit the Texas Southern Tigers in SWAC college basketball action.

The Jackson State Tigers were denied a third consecutive win in a 55-51 defeat at the hands of Prairie View as a seven point road dog on Saturday.

Jackson State looked to be in control with an eight point lead at the intermission but were done in with only a 20 point second half.

Venjie Wallis kept the Tigers in upset mode tossing in a game high 14 points with five boards on 6-7 shooting with Jontrell Walker tossing in nine points.

Jackson State received eight points and five pulls from Jayveous McKinnis followed by Chris Howell with eight points and 13 rebounds.

The Texas Southern Tigers have dropped consecutive contests after an 88-87 OT loss to Grambling on Saturday as a 9.5 point home favorite.

Texas Southern was outshot 40.6%-38.5% but stayed competitive with 18 turnovers turning in to 14 more field goal attempts.

John Jones led the balanced Tigers offense with  14 points  while Jaylyn Patterson added 12 points, five pulls and four assists.

Texas Southern received eleven points from Devocio Butler followed by Eden Ewing and Jeremy Combs with a combined 19 points and 27 rebounds.

Jackson State are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 road games and Jackson State are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall and under is 20-8-1 in Jackson State last 29 road games. Texas Southern  are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and over is 13-6 in Texas Southern last 19 overall.
