Saturday CIT college basketball gives us a matchup between the Texas State Bobcats and Florida International Golden Panthers.
The Florida International Golden Panthers dropped a 71-57 first round playoff matchup to the North Texas Mean Green for an early exit from the CUSA postseason.
The Golden Panthers were done in by a 22 point first half where the faced a 17 point deficit with only 35.7% shooting to lean on.
Brian Beard Jr. led the FIU attack with 13 points and five helpers with Osaumwen tossing in ten points and hauling in 12 rebounds with six blocks.
Devon Andrews gave the Golden Panthers another ten points and four pulls followed by Trejon Jacob with nine points and four steals.
The Texas State Bobcats saw their bid to win the Sun Belt title fall short in a 59-45 semifinal loss to the Georgia State Panthers.
The Bobcats had no offensive help with only 15 first half points and a 13 point hole because of 21.3% marksmanship including 5-26 from deep.
Tre’Larenz Nottingham topped the struggling Texas State offense with 13 points with Mason Harrell netting ten points with two yanks.
FIU Golden Panthers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss and are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 games following a double-digit loss at home and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Texas State Bobcats are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games and are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game.
I can’t say Texas State is far better then the Golden Panthers but they are much more balanced with FIU trying to outscore the opposition. I’ll back the points in what should be a competitive game…
