Texas Tech Red Raiders -13
The West Virginia Mountaineers will take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday in Big 12 Tournament action.
West Virginia enters this one at 13-19 overall. The Mountaineers dropped their final game to Oklahoma State, but kicked off the tournament with a great 72-71 win over Oklahoma.
In the Wednesday win over the Sooners, West Virginia’s top scorer was Lamont West on 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. Jermaine Haley doubled up for the Mountaineers in that one with 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
Over on the Texas Tech side, they come into this one at 26-5 on the season. The Raiders are riding a nice nine-game win streak at the moment, and took out Iowa State in their last outing.
In the win over the Cyclones, Texas Tech’s Jarrett Culver topped the scoring on 31 points with four rebounds and three assists. Davide Moretti added 20 points for the Raiders there, and Tariq Owens logged 14 rebounds.
The Mountaineers are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. West Virginia is 1-6 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are 8-1 ATS in their last nine overall and 8-1 ATS in their last nine versus the Big 12. Texas Tech is 6-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 1-10 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games.
West Virginia had been playing very well to close out the regular season—despite a couple of losses—so it’s no surprise they were able to pound out an opening-round victory on Wednesday.
That said, Texas Tech has been pounding out wins left and right, and I don’t see that train stopping anytime soon. Still, I’m thinking the Mountaineers may be able to keep up and eke into a cover.
