The Baylor Bears and the Texas Longhorns meet in Big 12 college basketball action from the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on Wednesday night.

The Baylor Bears will look to add to their current 6-game winning streak after a 90-64 win over TCU in their last outing. Makai Mason led the Bears with a whopping 40 points on 14 of 20 shooting with 9 threes and a team-high 4 assists while Freddie Gillespie added 11 points and a team-high 7 rebounds with 3 blocks as the only other Baylor player to score in double figures in the winning effort. Mason leads the Bears with an average of 16.7 points and 3.1 assists per game while Mark Vital leads Baylor in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Baylor is averaging 73.3 points per game on 45.3% shooting from the field, 33.5% from behind the 3-point line and 66.6% from the foul line this season.

The Texas Longhorns desperately need a win after losing 6 of their last 8 games following a 65-60 loss to Iowa State in their last outing. Kerwin Roach II led the Longhorns with 19 points while Matt Coleman III added 13 points with a team-high 5 assists and Jaxson Hayes chipped in 10 points with a team-high 8 rebounds to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Texas in the losing effort. Dylan Osetkowski added 9 points with 7 rebounds as well in the loss for the Horns. Roach II leads Texas in scoring with 14.6 points per game while Osetkowski leads the Longhorns in rebounding with 8 rebounds per game and Coleman III leads Texas in assists with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Texas is averaging 71.5 points per game on 43.1% shooting from the field, 33% from behind the 3-point line and 70.7% from the foul line this season.

Baylor is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 conference games. Texas is 6-13 ATS in their last 19 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games while the over is 18-8-1 in their last 27 games against a team with a winning record. Baylor is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams at Texas.

I understand why Texas could be favored in this matchup, being at home and the fact that the Longhorns play some solid defense. However, I still worry that Texas relies too heavily on their defense to try to win games, and that won’t fly against a Baylor team that’s clicking and firing on all cylinders right now. You have two teams that are going in completely different directions, and even on the road, I seriously think the wrong team is favored here so I’ll take the free bucket with Baylor in this spot.

Baylor +3
