The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns meet in Big 12 college basketball action from the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be out to snap a 4-game losing streak after falling to Texas Tech by a final score of 78-50 in their last outing. Cameron McGriff led the Cowboys with 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting with a team-high 11 rebounds for the double-double while Lindy Waters III added 12 points as the only other Oklahoma State player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Isaac Likekele added 9 points with a team-high 5 assists as well in the loss. McGriff leads Oklahoma State with an average of 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while Likekele leads the Cowboys in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Oklahoma State is averaging 68.2 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field, 38.1% from behind the arc and 68.9% from the foul line this season.

The Texas Longhorns will look to find some consistency after splitting their last 8 games following a 71-64 loss to Kansas State in their last outing. Kerwin Roach II led the Horns with 17 points on 5 of 13 shooting with a 7 of 8 mark from the foul line and a team-high 8 rebounds while Courtney Ramey added 10 points and 6 rebounds as the only other Texas player to score in double figures in the loss. Dylan Osetkowski added 9 points and 6 rebounds while Matt Coleman III had 9 points and 5 assists as well in the defeat. Roach II leads Texas in scoring with 14.9 points per game while Osetkowski leads the Longhorns in rebounding with 8 rebounds per game and Coleman III leads Texas in assists with 3.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Texas is averaging 71.8 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field, 33.1% from behind the arc and 69.9% from the foul line this season.

Oklahoma State is 4-14 ATS in their last 18 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Texas is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss. Oklahoma State is 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at Texas.

The Longhorns will no doubt be looking for revenge after Oklahoma State handed Texas a loss when these two met earlier this season. However, I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I think Texas relies too heavily on their defense to get the job done in certain games. Now that’s not to say that the Longhorns haven’t done enough to get an at-large bid should they not win the conference tournament, I just think the Longhorns have a tendency to make it hard on themselves. Oklahoma State has been far from impressive lately, and this is a game that Texas should win easily, but I just have this sneaking suspicion that Oklahoma State will hang around and make life difficult for Texas once again, so I’ll take the Cowboys and the points as I just think this is a case of laying too many points with the Longhorns.

Pick:
Oklahoma State +12
