The College of Charleston Cougars and the Towson Tigers will meet up in college basketball activity on Thursday.
Charleston rolls into this game at 12-2 on the year so far. The Cougars are on a nine-game win streak, beating UAB, Memphis, SC State, Charlotte, Georgia College, VCU, Siena, Coastal Carolina and UNCW in that time.
In the Seahawks matchup, Charleston’s Grant Riller went off for 31 points, two assists and one rebound to lead the team. Both Jarrell Brantley and Brevin Galloway added 14 points with nine combined rebounds and five combined assists for the Cougars there.
Over on the Towson side, they’re 5-9 this year. The Tigers are 3-2 over their last five games, beating UMBC, Tulane and Elon but falling to La Salle and William & Marry during that span.
In the Tribe game, Towson’s Brian Fobbs and Jakigh Dottin each scored 12 points to lead the team, and combined for seven rebounds. Jordan McNeil added 10 points as the only other Tiger in double-figures.
Charleston is 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up win and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games versus a team with a losing home record. The Cougars are 1-5 ATS in their last six versus a team with a losing straight-up record and the over is 6-1 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 following a straight-up loss and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 following an ATS loss. Towson is 6-17 ATS in their last 23 overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games.
Though they’ve had a close call or two along the way, Charleston is looking pretty good during this win streak, and they’re getting contributions from several different sources.
Towson has been putting up some solid efforts here and there, but they’re not near consistent enough for me to rely on. I’m going to stick with Charleston.
