The Northeastern Huskies will travel to SECU Arena to take on the Towson Tigers this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Northeastern Huskies won their 4th straight game and improved to 11-8 (5-2 CAA) on the season after defeating the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 88-71, this past Saturday. Northeastern led by just a 40-38 margin at halftime, however, was outstanding on the offensive end in the 2nd half and easily pulled away after taking a 74-57 lead with 7:58 left in regulation. Northeastern shot 49.2% from the field and committed just 4 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Huskies was Vasa Pusica who had 21 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, & 1 steal.

On the season, Northeastern is averaging 75.6 ppg on 48.7% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 37.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northeastern has been led by Vasa Pusica (16.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.4 spg), Jordan Roland (14.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.4 spg), Donnell Gresham Jr. (10.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.3 spg), and Shawn Occeus (10.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Northeastern is allowing their opponents to average 72.7 ppg on 46.8% shooting from the field. The Huskies have a rebound margin of -0.3 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The Towson Tigers snapped their 5-game losing streak and improved to 6-14 (2-5 CAA) on the season after defeating the Delaware Blue Hens, 64-63, this past Saturday. Towson trailed by a 37-22 margin at halftime, however, dominated the Blue Hens on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and was able to complete the comeback after a Alex Thomas jumper with :22 seconds left in regulation gave the Tigers the lead for good. Towson shot 48.2% from the field & 46.2% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Tigers was Brian Fobbs who had 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block.

On the season, Towson is averaging 66.6 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Towson has been led by Brian Fobbs (16.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.3 apg), Tobias Howard (9.9 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.9 apg), Nakye Sanders (8.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg), and Jordan McNeil (6.7 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.1 apg).

Defensively, Towson is allowing their opponents to average 70.2 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 5.7 and a turnover margin of -2.4.

The Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.

Northeastern has won 6 of their last 8 games and has been led by their offense this season that currently ranks 132nd in scoring offense, 26th in FG%, 47th in 3P-FG%, and 42nd in FT%. Towson has lost 7 of their last 9 games and although their defense has been decent, ranking 144th in scoring defense, the offense has really struggled as they rank just 319th in scoring offense & T-283rd in FG%.

Northeastern is starting to look like the team that came into this season as one of the CAA favorites and between the fact that Towson is just 2-4 at home on the season and have had some real trouble scoring the basketball this season, I’m taking Northeastern to win this one by double-digits and cover this spread. Good Luck!

Pick:
Northeastern Huskies -8.5
