The Appalachian State Mountaineers and the Troy Trojans will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
Appalachian State enters this one at 5-9 on the year. The Mountaineers are just 1-4 in their last five games, beating Milligan and falling to South Florida, Georgetown, Saint Louis and South Alabama.
In the Jaguars game, Appalachian State’s Ronshad Shabazz put up 21 points with five assists and three rebounds. Isaac Johnson added 14 points and six rebounds for the Mountaineers, and O’Showen Williams had 11 of his own.
Over on the Troy side, they’re currently 7-6 this season. The Trojans had a nice little win streak going versus Carver, Western Kentucky, UAB and AR-Pine Bluff but lost their last game versus Coastal Carolina.
In the Chanticleers game, Troy’s Charles Norman was the team’s lead scorer with 16 points and two rebounds. Also in double-figures for the Trojans were BJ Miller (12 points) and Devante Foster (11 points; five rebounds).
The Mountaineers are 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 following an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. App State is also 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 1-4 ATS in the last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Trojans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 following an ATS loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games. Troy is 0-4 ATS in their last four following a double-digit loss at home and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall.
Following a pretty bad 83-55 loss to Saint Louis, Appalachian State had a better outing 79-73 versus South Alabama, but still couldn’t catch up after a five-point halftime deficit.
Troy isn’t necessarily rock-solid reliable, but I like them a lot better right now. I’m sticking with the Trojans here.
