NCAA BB | East Carolina Pirates (9-14) at Tulane Green Wave (13-11)
USA TODAY Sports

We have some AAC-tion on Wednesday’s college basketball slate as the East Carolina Pirates battle the Tulane Green Wave.

The East Carolina Pirates will look to turn things around after losing 4 of their last 5 games, including a 90-73 loss to Temple in their last outing. Kentrell Barkley led the Pirates with 20 points on 7 of 14 shooting with 4 triples and a team-high 9 rebounds, while Isaac Fleming came 2nd with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists of his own. Shawn Williams added 13 points while B.J. Tyson chipped in 12 points and 4 assists of his own in the losing effort. Tyson leads ECU in scoring with 14.2 points per game while Barkley leads the Pirates in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game and Fleming is East Carolina’s top assist man with 4.9 assists per game this season. As a team, East Carolina is scoring 66.7 points per game on 43.2% shooting from the field, 28.2% from behind the 3-point line and 64.7% from the foul line this season.

The Tulane Green Wave will look for a feel good win after losing 7 of their last 9 games, including a 73-42 loss to Houston in their last outing. Melvin Frazier was the lone Tulane player to score in double figures with 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting, while Cameron Reynolds added 9 points with team-highs of 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Frazier leads Tulane with an average of 16.3 points per game while Reynolds leads the Green Wave in rebounding with 6.8 boards per game and Ray Ona Embo is Tulane’s top assist man, dishing out 3.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Tulane is scoring 74.3 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field, 35% from behind the arc and 70.9% from the foul line this season.

East Carolina is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Tulane is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 15-34-3 ATS in their last 52 home games while the over is 21-5 in their last 26 games following a loss. East Carolina is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings at Tulane.

I know that East Carolina has looked bad at times this season, but is Tulane really that much better than the Pirates right now? I personally don’t think so. If you had asked me at the beginning of conference play I probably would’ve said yes, but Tulane has looked equally bad as of late and East Carolina took Tulane to overtime in the last meeting and has had the bulk of the success ATS when these two meet, so I’ll take the points with East Carolina here.

Pick:
East Carolina +10.5
