The SMU Mustangs and the Tulane Green Wave meet in college basketball action from Devlin Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
SMU enters this one at 18-6 so far. Following a recent 97-90 loss to Temple, the Mustangs have gotten wins in their last two games over Connecticut and Houston.
In the OT win over the Cougars, SMU’s Tyson Jolly topped the team on 20 points with five rebounds. Both Feron Hunt and Isiaha Mike had 15 points with two assists apiece, and combined for nine rebounds as well.
Over on the Tulane side, they’re 10-15 this year. The Wave are on a nine-game losing streak, falling to SMU, Houston, East Carolina, Temple and Wichita State in their last five outings.
In the loss to the Shockers, Tulane’s Christion Thompson put up 16 points with seven rebounds and one assist. Jordan Walker posted 14 points with four rebounds and Teshaun Hightower added 10 points with four assists and four rebounds.
Tulane is 253-303 ATS in all games since 1997 and 102-144 ATS in all home games since 1997. The Wave are 169-222 ATS versus conference opponents since 1997 and 166-214 ATS after a conference game since 1997.
The Wave are 4-1 ATS versus SMU over the last three seasons and SMU is 4-1 straight up versus Tulane over the last three seasons. Three of five games in this series have gone under the total in the last three seasons as well.
SMU’s big win over Houston was a signature victory, and the Mustangs did a good job of fighting off the Cougars after a comeback. That’s consecutive solid outings for the Mustangs right now, and despite the occasional stumble they’re playing well.
As for Tulane, they haven’t been on the right side of 70 points in any of their last 11 games and just aren’t looking good. I’m taking SMU to keep it going here.
