The Cincinnati Bearcats will travel to the Reynolds Center to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane this Thursday night in College Basketball action.
The Cincinnati Bearcats had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 12-3 (1-1 AAC) on the season after being upset by the East Carolina Pirates, 73-71, this past Saturday. Cincinnati and their usually strong defense struggled against the Pirates and couldn’t fight all the way back after East Carolina took a 66-58 lead with 4:03 left in regulation. Cincinnati shot just 15.8% from beyond the arc, while allowing East Carolina to shoot 51.1% from the field and 40.9% from three-point range. Leading the way for the Bearcats was Jarron Cumberland who had 18 points, 5 rebounds, & 4 assists.

Offensively, Cincinnati has been led by Jarron Cumberland (16.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Keith Williams (11.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.2 spg), Tre Scott (9.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.5 apg), and Justin Jenifer (8.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 4.4 apg).

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane improved to 11-4 (1-1 AAC) on the season after defeating the South Florida Bulls, 78-75, this past Saturday. Tulsa allowed South Florida to fight back into the game late after holding a 65-54 lead with just 6:20 left in regulation, however, the Golden Hurricane were able to hang on for the victory after Curran Scoot hit a game winning three-pointer as time expired. Tulsa shot 45.5% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Golden Hurricane was DaQuan Jeffries who had 20 points, 3 rebounds, & 2 steals.
On the season, Tulsa is averaging 71.6 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Golden Hurricane are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 33.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Tulsa has been led by DaQuan Jeffries (13.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.2 spg, 1.0 bpg), Martins Igbanu (13.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg), Sterling Taplin (9.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.0 spg), and Jeriah Horne (7.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg).
Defensively, Tulsa is holding their opponents to an average of 67.9 ppg on 40.2% shooting from the field. The Golden Hurricane have a rebound margin of -1.1 and a turnover margin of 0.5.
The Bearcats are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Golden Hurricane are 22-7 ATS in their last 29 Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.
Cincinnati is once again led by their defense which ranks 7th in scoring defense, 24th in rebound margin, and 31st in defensive FG%. The Bearcats can struggle on offense at times, but still rank a respectable 155th in scoring offense and 92nd in FG%. Tulsa has been successful this season thanks to their defense that ranks 93rd in scoring defense & 53rd in defensive FG%. The Golden Hurricane however, can really struggle to put points up on the board as they rank just 244th in scoring offense, 160th in FG%, and 237 in 3P-FG%.
Tulsa has won 6 of their last 7 games and as I think their defense is going to give Cincinnati trouble, I’m taking the Golden Hurricane to cover at home with the points.
