Tulsa Golden Hurricane -1.5 -- Over/Under: 143
The UConn Huskies and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane meet in AAC conference college basketball action from the Donald Reynolds Center on Wednesday night.
The UConn Huskies come into this game looking to bounce back after a 74-72 overtime loss to Cincinnati in their last outing, giving the Huskies their 4th loss in their last 5 games. Alterique Gilbert led the Huskies with 18 points while Christian Vital and Jalen Adams each had 16 points with Adams shooting 5 of 11 with 3 triples and a team-high 6 assists while Vital shot 6 of 15 with 4 threes and a team-high 10 rebounds for the double-double. Josh Carlton fell just shy of a double-double of his own, adding 10 points and 9 rebounds with a pair of blocks to finish off the scoring in double figures for UConn in the losing effort. Adams leads the Huskies in scoring with 16.8 points per game while Vital leads UConn in rebounding with 5.4 rebounds per game and Gilbert leads the Huskies in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, UConn is averaging 78 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field, 35.8% from behind the arc and 69.9% from the foul line this season.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane come into this one looking to rebound after back-to-back losses and defeats in 3 of their last 4 games after a 77-57 loss to SMU last time out. Jeriah Horne led the Golden Hurricane with 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 4 threes while Sterling Taplin added 10 points with team-highs of 6 rebounds and 4 assists as the only other Tulsa player to score in double figures in the losing effort. DaQuan Jeffries scored just 7 points in the loss, but still leads the Golden Hurricane in scoring with an average of 13.4 points per game while Taplin leads Tulsa in assists with 4.7 assists per game and Martins Igbanu leads Tulsa in rebounding with 5.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Tulsa is averaging 70.4 points per game on 44.5% shooting from the field, 34.8% from behind the arc and 69.7% from the foul line this season.
UConn is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games and 16-38-1 ATS in their last 55 games following a loss while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. Tulsa is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. UConn is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The Huskies are coming off of a heart-breaking 2-point overtime loss to Cincinnati on the road, have lost both of their true road games this year and have been brutal for the most part on the road dating back to last season. Tulsa leaves a lot to be desired ATS at home, but the Golden Hurricane play tough defense and make teams earn every point and that may be hard for UConn to keep up with considering the Huskies often have periods where they go through an offensive drought. Tulsa has also had UConn’s number ATS in recent meetings so at home, I’ll lay the bucket with Tulsa here.
