Florida Atlantic Owls (9-4) at UAB Blazers (8-5)
|Date & Time||Thursday January 3, 2019, 8:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: UAB Blazers -6.5 -- Over/Under: 135
The Florida Atlantic Owls and the UAB Blazers will meet up on the college basketball circuit on Thursday.
Florida Atlantic enters this one at 9-4 on the year. The Owls are 2-2 over their last four games, dropping to Arkansas State and Miami (FL), but taking out Florida College and Illinois in that span.
In the Illini game, FAU’s Anthony Adger led the team with 27 points and four rebounds. Also in double-figures for the Owls was Madiaw Niang, who doubled up on 12 points and 14 rebounds in that game.
Over on the UAB side, they’re 8-5 this season. The Blazers are also 2-2 in their last four games, falling to Auburn and Troy with victories over Alcorn State and Arkansas-Monticello.
In the Boll Weevils game, UAB’s top scorer was Jalen Perry, with 23 points, four rebounds and three assists. Jeremiah Bell added 15 points for the Blazers, while Zack Bryant chipped in 13 and Makhtar Gueye hit a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.
The Owls are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 road games versus a team with a winning home record and 1-5 ATS in their last six following a straight-up win. FAU is 0-5 ATS in their last five following an ATS win and the under is 5-0 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Blazers are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 following a straight-up win and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. UAB is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus a team with a winning straight-up record and 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games.
I’m not quite sure what to think of FAU right now, as they’ve been pretty uneven lately and you can’t really tell what you’re going to get on a game-to-game basis.
UAB has looked a little more consistent scoring-wise, but they’re still prone to lapses on defense that get them into trouble on the scoreboard.
All things considered, I like the Blazers here but realistically this is probably one to stay away from.
