The Line: UAB Blazers -11 -- Over/Under:
Out at Bartow Arena on Thursday, the North Texas Mean Green will be taking on the UAB Blazers in college basketball action.
North Texas enters this game with a 13-10 record overall. The Mean Green have won their last three straight games, and took out Rice on Saturday. In that one, North Texas guard Roosevelt Smart put up 28 points.
Smart is also the leading scorer on the North Texas roster this year with 19.0 PPG. Ryan Woolridge (12.6 PPG; 4.9 RPG; 5.9 APG) and Umoja Gibson (10.5 PPG; 4.0 RPG) are also in double-digits for the Mean Green.
Over on the UAB side, they’re currently 15-9 this year. The Blazers have lost two of their last three games, including Saturday’s versus Old Dominion. In that game, UAB forward Chris Cokley posted 16 points.
Cokley tops the stat sheet for the Blazers on the season, with 18.5 PPG and 9.4 RPG. Also in double-digits for UAB are Zack Bryant (13.1 PPG; 3.0 APG) and Nate Darling (10.1 PPG; 3.3 RPG).
North Texas is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss. The Mean Green are also 8-2 ATS in the last 10 road games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Blazers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven games following a straight-up loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. The under is 8-2-1 ATS in UAB’s last 11 Thursday games and 9-3 in their last 12 home games.
The Mean Green have been scoring better in each of their last three games, starting with 59 points, then 69 points (OT) and 74 points. That said, North Texas hasn’t won by more than six points in any of those games. As for UAB, they put up just 60 points versus ODU, but otherwise have been scoring reasonably well. I’ll take the Blazers.
