Thursday west coast college basketball pits the Cal Poly Mustangs against the UC Irvine Anteaters.

The slumping Cal Poly Mustangs come off of a 75-54 loss at Hawaii a week ago as a 14.5 point underdog where both ends of the floor struggled.

Cal Poly is in the basement of the Big West with little time remaining to improve their position with just a few weeks left before the postseason.

Marcellus Garrick was the Mustangs top weapon with 15 points and three yanks with Donovan Fields adding eleven points and four helpers.

Mark Crowe gave Cal Poly another eleven points and six boards followed by Karlis Garoza with eight points and another five pulls.

The surging UC Irvine Anteaters defeated visiting UC Santa Barbara 83-70 on Saturday as a six point home favorite.

UC Irvine has established themselves as the team to beat in the Big West with nine consecutive victories to secure the top spot in the conference.

Evan Leonard topped the Anteaters offense with 23 points with Jonathan Galloway adding another 14 points and eleven rebounds.

UC Irvine saw 12 points and three yanks from Collin Welp followed by Max Hazzard who contributed ten points.

Cal Poly Mustangs are 13-36-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall and Cal Poly Mustangs are 6-17-2 ATS in their last 25 road games.

UC Irvine Anteaters are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and UC Irvine Anteaters are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big West.

Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in UC Irvine and Cal Poly Mustangs are 1-3-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in UC Irvine.

The number is huge here and this looks like the type of game where the Anteaters decide how big the outcome will be…

UC Irvine -18 (line drop to -15)

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
