UC Irvine Anteaters -12.5 O/U: 142.5
The Cal State Northridge Matadors and the UC Irvine Anteaters will meet up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.
The Matadors are currently 13-18 this season. Cal State Northridge had a three-game win streak going versus UC Davis, UC Riverside and Hawaii, but dropped their last game to UC Santa Barbara.
In the loss to the Gauchos, the Matadors’ top scorer was Lamine Diane with 34 points, 13 rebounds and two assists. The only other Cal State Northridge player in double-figures there was Terrell Gomez with 21 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Anteaters’ side, they’re 26-5 this season. UC Irvine is enjoying a 12-game win streak right now, taking out UC Davis, UC Riverside and Cal Poly in their last trio of games.
In the win over Cal Poly, UC Irvine’s lead scorer was Collin Welp on 19 points with six rebounds and one assist. Every Anteater starter in that game finished with at least 13 points, so it was a nice well-rounded effort from them.
The Matadors are 7-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. CSUN is 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big West and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 overall.
Meanwhile, the Anteaters are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and 7-0 ATS in their last seven overall. UC Irvine is 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 6-0 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
Cal State Northridge put up a solid second-half effort against a good UCSB team, but after falling behind 44-38 in the first half the surge wasn’t enough. Still, the good news is that the Matadors have put up at least 70 points in each of their last six games.
As for the Anteaters, they’ve been beating up on just about everyone recently, and most of their games haven’t been close. That said, I think the line is just thick enough for the Matadors to sneak in there.
