Big West college basketball action on Thursday pits the Long Beach State 49ers against the UC Riverside Highlanders.
The Long Beach State 49ers are looking to build on Wednesday’s 80-78 victory against Cal State Northridge as a five point favorite.
Long Beach State buried in the conference standings because of too many defensive woes with opponents averaging almost 78 points.
Deishaun Booker led a second half comeback for the 49ers with 20 points, three yanks and four helpers while Bryan Alberts added another 20 points and four pulls.
LBSU received 15 points and six rebounds from Jordan Roberts followed by Drew Cobb with eight points, 13 rebounds and four assists.
The UC Riverside Highlanders failed in their bid for back to back wins with an 87-64 loss at the Hawaii Rainbows as an eleven point underdog.
UC Riverside is next to last in the conference standings and need to control the pace and limit turnovers with opponents sinking shots at 47%.
Dikymbe Martin topped the Highlanders offense with 22 points followed by Callum McRae who tossed in 13 points and posted three boards.
Menno Dijkstra netted nine points and logged four pulls followed by Dragan Elkaz who gave UC Riverside eight more points.
