West coast college basketball pits the Idaho State Bengals at the Santa Barbara Gauchos.

The Idaho State Bengals were denied a third straight win in an 88-77 loss at Utah Valley on Wednesday. Idaho State faced a seven point deficit at the halfway point and couldn’t comeback with the Wolverines connecting at 55.6% and the Bengals responding with 50%.

Gary Chivichyan kept ISU in contention with 23 points on 7-10 from the field and 5-8 from long range while Brandon Boyd added 16 points and five helpers on 5-10 accuracy and 5-6 at the line. Idaho State saw Balint Mocsan and Chier Maker toss in 12 points apiece with Maker grabbing nine rebounds followed Kelvin Jones with eight points.

The Santa Barbara Gauchos dropped to 8-3 following an 85-74 defeat at Nebraska Omaha on Wednesday as a three point road dog. Santa Barbara faced a 13 point hole after 20 minutes and could only trade baskets the rest of the way with the Mavericks owning a 55%-41% shooting advantage.

Ar’Mond Davis was the Gauchos top weapon, pouring in a game high 26 points with four pulls on 7-14 shooting with five bombs and 7-8 at the stripe. Devearl Ramsey gave UCSB ten points followed by Max Heidegger and Jaquori MclLaughlin with nine points and seven points respectively.

At first glance the number looks big but the Gauchos can’t afford back to back losses…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
