Saturday college basketball action features the Montana State Bobcats taking on the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.
The Montana State Bobcats need an early season boost after an 81-77 loss at Colorado State dropped the team to 1-3. Montana State won the shooting battle 46.6%-43.5% but Colorado won on the strength of a 21-9 advantage at the stripe.
Tyler Hall kept the Bobcats competitive with a contest high 30 points and six pulls on 10-20 from the field including seven long balls. Harald Frey gave Montana State 17 points and eight rebounds on 5-13 with Ladan Ricketts tossing in 12 points on 4-9 from the floor.
The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos picked up their second win with an 88-32 rout of sub-division Cal Lutheran. This was never close with UC Santa Barbara taking a 50-15 lead in to the half behind 58.2% shooting with Cal Lutheran checking in at an ice cold 15.8%.
Ami Lakoju topped the Gauchos offense with 16 points and four yanks on 8-13 from the floor while Amadou Sow added 15 points and seven rebounds on 5-6 accuracy. UC Santa Barbara saw ten points and seven boards from Robinson Idehen while Christian Terrell and Ar’Mond Davis chipped in with eight points each.
