The Memphis Tigers and the UCF Knights meet in AAC college basketball action from the CFE Federal Credit Union Arena on Saturday evening.
The Memphis Tigers will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 79-69 win over East Carolina in their last outing. Jeremiah Martin led the Tigers with 31 points on 8 of 15 shooting with 3 threes and a 12 of 15 mark from the foul line with a pair of steals while Mike Parks Jr. added 12 points on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting as the only other Memphis player to score in double figures in the win. Kareem Brewton Jr. and Alex Lomax each dished out a team-high 6 assists while Isaiah Maurice added 9 points and a team-high 7 rebounds in just 12 minutes of work. Martin leads Memphis with an average of 17.1 points and 4.3 assists per game while Kyvon Davenport leads the Tigers on the glass with 7.1 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Memphis is averaging 81.7 points per game on 45.8% shooting from the field, 32.9% from behind the arc and 70.7% from the foul line this season.
The UCF Knights will look to build on back-to-back wins of their own after a 78-65 win over USF last time out. Tacko Fall led the Knights with 21 points along with a team-high 9 rebounds and 5 blocks while Terrell Allen added 14 points with 4 assists and B.J. Taylor chipped in 13 points with a team-high 7 assists. Aubrey Dawkins added 10 ponits to round out the group of double-digit scorers for UCF in the win, while Collin Smith had 9 points, 3 steals and 5 rebounds and Chad Brown had 5 points with 9 rebounds of his own in the win. Taylor leads UCF in scoring with 16.5 points per game while Fall leads the Knights in rebounding with 7 rebounds per game and Allen leads UCF in assists with 4 helpers per game this season. As a team, UCF is averaging 73.4 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field, 35% from behind the arc and 62.7% from the foul line this season.
Memphis is 1-5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 games following a win. UCF is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. The favorite is 13-3-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings between these two teams.
Both of these teams come in off of back-to-back wins while both are also teams I’m not overly comfortable siding with in this matchup. You could say at that point that the points are the way to go, but I simply don’t trust the Tiger on the road in any capacity. UCF showed a lot of grit in getting the job done against a USF team that had been one of the more underrated teams in the conference, and I think the Knights keep that roll going with a win and cover in this one.
