UIC Flames -4.5 -- Over/Under - 158
The Green Bay Phoenix will travel to UIC Pavilion to take on the UIC Flames this Friday night in College Basketball action.
The Green Bay Phoenix won their 2nd straight game and improved to 14-3 (8-6 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Detroit Mercy Titans, 82-73, this past Saturday. Green Bay trailed by a 44-33 margin early in the 2nd half, however, was outstanding on both ends of the court down the stretch and pulled away for the victory after taking a 74-67 lead with 2:05 left in regulation. Green Bay shot 51.9% from the field and outrebounded Detroit Mercy by a 39-29 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Phoenix was Sandy Cohen III who had a double-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists.
On the season, Green Bay is averaging 82.7 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Phoenix are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Green Bay has been led by Sandy Cohen III (16.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1.9 spg), JayQuan McCloud (14.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.2 apg), Kameron Hankerson (9.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 spg), and PJ Pipes (6.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.3 apg).
Defensively, Green Bay is allowing their opponents to average 81.3 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Phoenix have a rebound margin of -3.4 and a turnover margin of 3.0.
The UIC Flames had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 14-13 (8-6 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Youngstown State Penguins, 81-73, this past Saturday. UIC trailed by a 43-38 margin at halftime and although they did take the lead midway through the 2nd half, the Flames couldn’t fight back after an 11-0 Penguins run gave Youngstown State a 71-65 lead with 3:34 left in regulation. UIC allowed Youngstown State to shoot 47.4% from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by the Penguins by a 36-28 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Flames was Godwin Boahen who had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and a steal.
On the season, UIC is averaging 75.0 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Flames are averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game on 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UIC has been led by Marcus Ottey (15.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.1 spg), Tarkus Ferguson (15.1 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.5 spg), Godwin Boahen (14.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.1 spg), and Jordan Blount (9.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensively, UIC is allowing their opponents to average 75.0 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Flames have a rebound margin of -3.0 and a turnover margin of -1.1.
The Phoenix are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Flames are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Green Bay has won 4 of their last 5 games and although their defense can give up some points as they rank 344th in scoring defense, the Phoenix have a solid offense that ranks 21st in scoring offense.
UIC has won 6 of their last 10 games and currently rank T-120th in scoring offense, 91st in FG%, and 258th in scoring defense.
Green Bay has been playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late and although they can give up points, the Phoenix offense is as explosive as any offense in the Horizon as the Phoenix has topped 82 points in 3 of their last 5 games. UIC has also played well as of late and have an impressive 11-3 record at home this season, however, they have to be disappointed after putting up just 73 points against Youngstown State’s defense that ranks just 24th in scoring defense. Green hasn’t been great on the road this season, however, between the fact that Green Bay defeated UIC by a 90-85 margin at home and that I think their offense will have success against the UIC defense, I think the Phoenix do enough with the points to cover with the points. Good Luck!
