City college basketball rivals the Loyola-Chicago Flames and UIC Flames face off on Saturday.

The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers have dropped back to back contests following a 79-65 loss to visiting Nevada on Tuesday. Loyola-Chicago trailed by 16 points at the half and didn’t have enough firepower to mount any kind of rally with the Wolf Pack holding a 58.2%-43.3% shooting edge.

Marques Townes was the Ramblers top offensive weapon with 24 points and nine rebounds on 9-19 from the floor including 3-4 from deep. Cooper Kaifes and Cameron Krutwig gave Loyola-Chicago eleven points each with Krutwig posting six boards and three blocks while Clayton Custer tossed in ten points.

The Illinois-Chicago Flames fell to 3-4 following an 89-75 loss at St. Joseph’s on Wednesday. UIC was up by eight points after 20 minutes but couldn’t get stops in the second half.

Tarkus Ferguson starred for the Flames with 23 points, ten rebounds, five assists and three blocks on 8-16 from the floor including 5-12 from deep. Marcus Ottey gave Illinois-Chicago 17 points, four helpers and three steals on 6-14 shooting while Jordan Blount added 14 points and five boards on 6-12 from the field.

Over is 26-7 in Loyola-Illinois last 33 vs. Horizon League and under is 12-4 in Loyola-Illinois last 16 overall and Loyola-Illinois are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games. Over is 7-2 in UIC last 9 home games and UIC are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings and favorite is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings.

Loyola-Illinois should compete for the MVC crown once again and should have the firepower to cover versus UIC…

Pick:
Loyola-Chicago -4

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
