The Wyoming Cowboys and UNLV Rebels meet Saturday in college basketball action at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Wyoming Cowboys could use a win after losing six of their last eight games. The Wyoming Cowboys are averaging 70.6 points on 41.4 percent shooting and allowing 77.6 points on 45.3 percent shooting. Justin James is averaging 21.3 points and 9.6 rebounds while Trace Young is averaging 16 points and 4.5 rebounds. Hunter Maldonado is the third double-digit scorer and Hunter Thompson is grabbing 3.8 rebounds. The Wyoming Cowboys are shooting 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 74.5 percent from the free throw line. The Wyoming Cowboys are allowing 33.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 29.4 rebounds per game. The Wyoming Cowboys have lost all three road games this season.
The UNLV Rebels could also use a win after splitting their last six games. The UNLV Rebels are averaging 73.9 points on 41.6 percent shooting and allowing 71.8 points on 44.5 percent shooting. Kris Clyburn is averaging 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds while Amauri Hardy is averaging 12.3 points and 3.1 assists. Joel Ntambwe is the third double-digit scorer and Shakur Juiston is grabbing 8.8 rebounds. The UNLV Rebels are shooting 28.8 percent from beyond the arc and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. The UNLV Rebels are allowing 36.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 37.8 rebounds per game. The UNLV Rebels have won five of their last seven home games.
The Cowboys are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Runnin' Rebels are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games, 7-15 ATS in their last 22 home games and 11-37-4 ATS in their last 52 vs. Mountain West. The Cowboys are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The over is 5-1 in Runnin' Rebels last 6 overall. The under is 4-1 in Cowboys last 5 overall.
The home team has won each of the last nine meetings between UNLV and Wyoming, but that's about the only thing that should make the Rebels such a big home favorite. The Wyoming Cowboys obviously have their issues at both ends of the floor and have been awful ATS despite being underdogs in most games. However, the UNLV Rebels haven't done much either to make me want to get behind them, especially as a big favorite. UNLV is shooting just 38.7 percent from the field in its last five games and is only outscoring teams by 5.5 points at home this season. UNLV isn't some powerhouse that should be laying double-digit points against anybody. I'll side with the points and Wyoming, if forced to pick this contest.
