The Line: USC Trojans -14.5 -- Over/Under:
Out at Galen Center on Sunday night, the Washington State Cougars will visit the USC Trojans in college basketball activity.
The Cougars are 8-5 on the season so far. Washington State has lost two of their last three games though, falling to Kansas State and UCLA. In that UCLA game, Cougars forward Robert Franks put up 20 points.
Franks leads Washington State in scoring on the season as well with 18.2 PPG and 7.2 RPG. The only other Cougars player in double-figures this year is Malachi Flynn (15.2 PPG), but Carter Skaggs is close on 9.4 PPG.
As for USC, they’re sitting at 9-5 this year. The Trojans had a three-game win streak going before falling to Washington in their last game. In that one, the Trojans’ top scorer was Chimezie Metu with 26 points.
Metu also leads USC in scoring on the season with 18.6 PPG and 8.1 RPG, while Bennie Boatwright is close behind on 17.1 PPG and 7.0 RPG. Jordan McLaughlin (13.1 PPG; 7.8 APG) and Elijah Stewart (12.1 PPG) are in double-figures for the Trojans as well.
Washington State is 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games and the under is 36-17 ATS in the last 53 overall. The Cougars are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a straight-up loss and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 overall.
Meanwhile, USC is 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a straight-up loss and 5-2 ATS int heir last seven games following an ATS loss. The over is 6-1-1 in the Trojans’ last eight overall and 4-1-1 in the last six Sunday games.
If you toss out thrashings of lesser teams IUPUI and Bethune-Cookman, Washington State has been pretty bad lately with five losses this month. I’m not necessarily impressed by the Trojans right now, but they should have plenty of firepower to manage a cover here. I’ll take USC.
